About The Position

Sanofi is seeking a Spring Co-op student to join its Media and Metabolic Profiling Development team in Framingham, Massachusetts, for a six-month co-op. The team develops and applies cell culture media platforms and upstream process technologies to address process challenges across CCD, including identifying process pain points, generating proof-of-concept data, and designing process platforms with Upstream Development colleagues. Working with a supervisor, the co-op will design, plan, and conduct cell culture experiments at multiple scales, analyze experimental data to support media development, and collaborate with the modeling team to produce data for computational metabolic models. The role may involve projects in fed-batch and perfusion process development, media development, and high-throughput automation. The student will also have opportunities to prepare protocols and reports and present findings.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must remain enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op.
  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for the full co-op duration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture.
  • Strong interest in integrating experimental and computational approaches to study cell metabolism.
  • Familiarity with metabolic modeling frameworks such as FBA, MFA, or kinetic modeling.
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers such as Tecan or Hamilton and high-throughput automation.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Demonstrated coding proficiency in Python, MATLAB, R, or a similar language.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and conduct cell culture experiments at different scales, including shake flasks, ambr15, ambr250, and 3L/10L bench-top bioreactors.
  • Process and analyze experimental results using data automation platforms, interpreting growth rates, nutrient uptake and secretion profiles, and intracellular metabolite levels.
  • Collaborate with the modeling team to generate experimental data that constrains and validates computational models.
  • Apply coding skills to support flux balance analysis (FBA), metabolic flux analysis (MFA), kinetic modeling, and other computational metabolic modeling workflows.
  • Contribute to protocol and report writing and present findings in relevant functional areas.
  • Prepare samples for LC-MS analysis using automated liquid handling technology and process results using a data automation platform.
  • Contribute to projects that may include fed-batch process development, perfusion process development, media development, and high-throughput automation development.

Benefits

  • Access to mentoring and guidance from leaders.
  • Opportunities for apprenticeships, internships, graduate programs, and international experiences.
  • Access to tools, digital innovation, and continuous learning.
