About The Position

Sanofi’s Media and Metabolic Profiling Development team develops and applies platform cell culture media and innovative upstream process technologies to address process challenges throughout CCD. The team identifies process pain points, investigates underlying problems, generates proof-of-concept data, and designs novel process platforms in collaboration with Upstream Development colleagues. The co-op will independently design, plan, and conduct cell culture experiments at multiple scales, process and analyze experimental results, and support media development and computational metabolic modeling. The position may involve projects in fed-batch and perfusion process development, media development, and high-throughput automation. The co-op will also prepare samples for LC-MS analysis using automated liquid handling technology, contribute to protocols and reports, and present findings in relevant functional areas.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD degree program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related field.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
  • Remain enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op/internship.
  • Able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture.
  • Strong interest in integrating experimental and computational approaches to study cell metabolism.
  • Familiarity with metabolic modeling frameworks such as flux balance analysis (FBA), metabolic flux analysis (MFA), or kinetic modeling.
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers such as Tecan or Hamilton and high-throughput automation.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Demonstrated coding proficiency in Python, MATLAB, R, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and conduct cell culture experiments at different scales, including shake flasks, ambr15, ambr250, and 3L/10L bench-top bioreactors, in collaboration with a supervisor.
  • Process and analyze experimental results using data automation platforms, interpreting growth rates, nutrient uptake and secretion profiles, and intracellular metabolite levels to support media development.
  • Collaborate with the modeling team to generate experimental data that constrains and validates computational models.
  • Apply coding skills to support flux balance analysis (FBA), metabolic flux analysis (MFA), kinetic modeling, and other computational metabolic modeling workflows.
  • Contribute to protocol and report writing and present findings in relevant functional areas.
  • Participate in projects such as fed-batch process development, perfusion process development, media development, and high-throughput automation development.
  • Prepare samples for LC-MS analysis using automated liquid handling technology and process results using a data automation platform.

Benefits

  • Mentoring and guidance from leaders and collaborative teams.
  • Apprenticeships, internships, graduate programs, and international experiences.
  • Access to the latest tools, digital innovation, and continuous learning.
