About The Position

The 12V Electrician I routes wiring for fire apparatus equipment according to wire diagrams and other technical drawings, and installs 12V accessories such as sensors and lights. The role also fabricates boxes, mounts, wire harnesses, and other equipment needed to complete electrical installations according to blueprints. The electrician coordinates with fabricators to ensure installations are complete and performs other duties as required to meet company needs.

The position is based at Rosenbauer South Dakota in Lyons, South Dakota. It is full-time, on the day shift, with no stated travel requirement. Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to support department needs. Employees must support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values and follow safety policies. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of DC electrical equipment.
• Six months of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills, or related fields.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints or a spec book.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Ability to recognize the importance of and adhere to safety policies.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is required for an offer of employment.

Responsibilities

• Route 12V electrical wires to equipment according to wire diagrams.
• Connect lights, hose reels, and other accessories to electrical boxes.
• Fabricate boxes, mounts, and other equipment needed to complete electrical installations according to blueprints.
• Communicate with fabricators to ensure complete installations.
• Fabricate wire harnesses as needed to complete installations.
• Use basic hand tools, a shear, and a brake press as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet company needs.
