About The Position

Triad Metals, established in 1987, is a leading distributor of structural steel, tubing, pipe, piling, and plate products in the US and Canada. With future expansion planned, the company continues to grow to provide the best steel solutions and services to its customers, building strong relationships with employees, customers, and vendors. Triad Metals is seeking Welders for its Columbia City, IN location, with openings for both 1st and 2nd shift positions. Welders will be responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques and equipment. They will interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings to determine welding processes. In addition to welding, this role may involve material handling with an overhead crane and forklift, with training provided. A willingness to cross-train on other equipment is a plus.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of welding related experience
  • AWS D.1.5 certification is required

Responsibilities

  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating welding equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings to determine appropriate welding processes.
  • Material handle using overhead crane and fork truck as needed.
  • Understand blueprints/drawings and the ability to interpret and apply design aspects to current projects.
  • Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
  • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications and to determine structural soundness.
  • Review engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
  • Perform overhead crane operation.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment.
  • Inspect dimensional product using standard measuring equipment.
  • Meet all quality assurance standards.
  • Be responsible for housekeeping in work area.
  • Follow all safety and operating instructions.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
