Requirements

• California RN license required.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating group processes and improvement teams preferred.
• Demonstrated experience using advanced quality improvement tools preferred.
• Evidence of applying quality improvement project tools, including proficiency in Lean Six Sigma tools and continuous quality improvement, preferred.
• Knowledge and skills appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
• Advanced quality improvement methods, Lean Six Sigma training, or equivalent experience.
• TeamSTEPPS training and Master Trainer Certification.
• BSN, MSN, or current enrollment in an RN-BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Champion patient safety projects assigned by the Director of Quality and Patient Safety.
• Coordinate and facilitate improvement efforts with departments and stakeholders, including policy and procedure development, research, data analysis, and proactive risk assessments such as FMEA.
• Oversee compliance with regulatory standards, including California State Title 22, CMS, The Joint Commission, and National Patient Safety Goals; collaborate with organizational leaders to align processes and policies with those standards.
• Coordinate Kaweah Health’s response to TJC Sentinel Event Alerts, facilitate gap analyses with organizational leaders, and present findings to the Patient Safety Committee.
• Champion and measure safety culture improvements, including managing the Culture of Safety Survey process, distributing organizational and department results, and ensuring action plans are created, implemented, and maintained.
• Oversee collection and distribution of patient safety information by monitoring and reporting patient safety indicators and metrics.
• Establish metrics for the South Bay Community’s patient safety progress.
• Coordinate patient safety awareness activities, including Good Catch Awards, Patient Safety Awareness Week, and communication of lessons learned.
• Participate actively on the Quality Risk Committee and Just Culture Steering Committee and encourage just culture as a Just Culture Champion.
• Champion patient safety training and present educational material to staff and leaders; provide leaders with orientation and ongoing patient safety education.
• Coordinate TeamSTEPPS or similar teamwork training for Kaweah Health leaders and staff as directed by the Quality Committee, and participate in training as a master trainer.
• Use effective project management and change management skills to achieve results.
• When facilitating quality teams, manage work defined in project charters, plans, and scopes to keep projects progressing toward goals and timelines.
• Maintain project plans and records as an archive of project results.
• Develop and present written and verbal reports throughout assigned project lifecycles and share information collaboratively with appropriate leadership and quality teams.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served in the assigned unit or work area.
