About The Position

Join Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, as a PRN Clinical Nurse Float and expand your clinical expertise across a wide range of inpatient units. In this dynamic role, you will support the Nursing Office by floating throughout the hospital (excluding the ER and ICU), collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while gaining exposure to diverse patient populations and specialties. This PRN, self-scheduled position requires a minimum of 8 hours per pay period and offers flexible shift options (days or nights). You will provide coverage across 65+ inpatient nursing units (excluding ER & ICU), with one weekend shift every 6 weeks and one holiday per year. The role includes a Tier 2 Float Differential of $15/hour and offers shift differentials. You will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment supporting staffing needs, gaining broad clinical exposure ideal for experienced, adaptable nurses. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
  • Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and ability to work independently across varied units
  • RN License
  • Nursing Diploma/Associate's in Nursing
  • No Experience (for Supervisor Experience)
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
  • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
