About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a mental healthcare field; the posting also states that a master’s degree must be obtained within six months of employment start date.
• Must hold and maintain licensure as a mental health professional in the state of residence. Listed credentials include LCSW, LPC, LMHC, LP, LMFT, LMSW, or RCSW-I.
• Thorough knowledge of current behavioral health concepts, principles, and treatment methods.
• Ability to navigate technology solutions with minimal guidance or support.
• Comfort with telehealth solutions and providing care through a virtual platform.
• Good multitasking skills to navigate five or more systems during a shift.
• Ability to comply with applicable state mental health and civil commitment laws.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience in a behavioral or mental healthcare setting performing clinical duties, including assessment.
• Prior management or supervisory experience in a healthcare-related field.

Responsibilities

• Respond to assessment requests from facilities and locations served by an in-scope Patient Logistics Center, receiving new requests through the case queue in partnership with Patient Logistics Specialists.
• Complete assessments as soon as possible and within 60 minutes of the initial request.
• Coordinate communication with patient collaterals, key stakeholders, hospital staff and leadership, and local Patient Logistics Center staff to support thorough assessments.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with EMTALA and HIPAA requirements; report compliance concerns to leadership immediately.
• Confer with the ordering physician about the appropriateness of the patient’s legal status based on presentation and engagement during the assessment.
• Know the state mental health and civil commitment laws applicable to the states supported by the VPLC.
• Complete detailed risk assessments and document safety-plan recommendations in the facility’s electronic health record for the ordering physician’s use in disposition decisions.
• Engage patients remotely through a tele-video platform and use appropriate clinical evaluation skills.
• Collaborate with hospital departments to address behavioral health assessment needs.
• Coordinate and participate with appropriate interested parties and physicians during patient admission, treatment, and discharge in the acute hospital setting.
• Track individual monthly performance against key performance indicators and quality metrics shared by leadership.
• Participate in internal clinical learning opportunities and meet continuing education requirements of the applicable licensing board.
• Meet timeliness expectations, including an average of 90 minutes or less for initial assessments, and averages of 30 minutes or less each for chart review, clinical interview, and documentation.
