About The Position

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have the education and/or experience needed to meet the functional competencies listed in the job description.
• At least 1 year of driving experience.
• Pass Fitness for Duty testing.
• Obtain credentials in accordance with the Office of Medical Direction within the probationary period and maintain them thereafter.
• Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) credential required for the applicable state: Office of EMS for Minnesota or Emergency Medical Services for Wisconsin.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire; recertification after hire is required through the American Heart Association.
• Valid driver's license required upon hire. Minnesota and Wisconsin residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment.
• Able to perform very heavy work, including lifting more than 100 pounds occasionally and more than 50 pounds frequently.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience working as an EMT.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within the scope of certification.
• Respond to 911 calls and provide pre-hospital patient care under the direction of a paramedic.
• Witness the use and waste of Class A narcotics.
• Transport patients from a scene or between facilities.
• Document care and provide reports to the receiving facility.
• Establish and maintain communication with internal and external customers.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment.
• Clean and stock vehicles.
• Operate vehicles in accordance with driving laws and company procedures.
• Use equipment according to manufacturer and company procedures.
• Report safety and potential safety hazards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
