About The Position
The City of Fresno Police Department is recruiting a Supervising Crime Scene Technician. This is a first-line supervisory position that oversees Crime Scene Technician staff during an assigned shift. The position supervises and participates in processing prisoners and collecting and preserving evidence used to identify and prosecute criminals, including fingerprint classification, latent comparison, indexing, and filing. The incumbent also trains and advises subordinates, prepares work schedules, and reviews their reports.
Requirements
- Meet one of the following experience pathways: four years of experience as a Crime Scene Technician with the Fresno Police Department, including one year as a Senior Crime Scene Technician; or four years of experience with a law enforcement crime lab or identification unit, including or supplemented by one year of lead or supervisory experience and completion of 30 college units from an accredited college or university, including 15 semester units in criminal justice or law enforcement.
- Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License throughout employment in this class.
- Complete a detailed pre-employment personal history form and pass a thorough background investigation, which may include a voice stress analyzer (CVSA) and/or polygraph test.
- Pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint process before employment.
- Submit college transcripts with the online application when relying on education to meet the minimum requirements.
