About The Position

Responsible for maintaining and repairing the buildings, equipment, and grounds of the zoo. Will need to perform in a wide range of maintenance tasks, including basic repairs, preventative maintenance, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. They will also have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

Current resident of Wisconsin.
Possession of a Wisconsin Driver’s License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
At least one (1) year of work experience in the building trades or as a facilities or maintenance worker.
Able to lift/carry up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 100lbs.
Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and shift rotations.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain Zoo structures, equipment, and enclosures.
Change lights, belts, and filters.
Clean, grease, and lubricate equipment.
Repair walls, doors, locks, windows, and screens.
Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
Monitor HVAC equipment.
Maintain records.
Fabricate, design, and build crates, cages, and fencing.
Alter the function of equipment.
Construct shelving, carts, furniture, and props.
Restore parts of the Zoo using skills such as carpentry, painting, roofing, and drywall.
Send out and check emails and work orders.
Utilize the LMS for trainings.
Assist with animal moves.
Assist skilled trades.
Perform other assigned jobs and duties.
