This role is for a Zoo Maintenance Worker Assistant who will support the maintenance and repair of zoo buildings, equipment, and grounds, performing entry-level tasks and assisting skilled trades.

Requirements

Current resident of Wisconsin.
Possession of a Wisconsin Driver’s License at the time of hire, able to be maintained throughout employment.
Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50lbs.
Willing to work irregular hours with overtime, weekends, or shift rotation.
Basic knowledge of Outlook, Learning Management Systems, and Spreadsheets.

Nice To Haves

Mechanical background or previous experience.
Technical training in maintenance or trade from high school or a technical college.
Maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain zoo structures and equipment, and help build props inside animal exhibits under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Workers.
Install weather stripping for doors and windows.
Caulk windows and buildings to increase energy efficiency.
Perform basic painting of structures and equipment both indoors and outdoors.
Assist the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Workers, and skilled trades as needed.
Assist the System Control Coordinator take meter readings.
Perform basic data entry into Cityworks.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
