About The Position

The YMCA of Three Rivers is seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join their team as Youth Workers. This role involves creating an inclusive space for youth aged 13-24, leading and facilitating programs that support their physical, social, and mental well-being, personal development, and leadership skills. The Youth Worker will act as a positive role model, build trusting relationships with youth, and contribute to the YMCA's mission of fostering belonging and well-being in the community. This is a part-time position with flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth between the ages of 13-24 years from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Knowledge of the unique needs of youth and resources available to them within our community.
  • Experience creating program plans, facilitating programming and an understanding of healthy adolescent development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to build positive relationships.
  • Commitment to supporting justice, access, inclusion, diversity and equity for all youth.
  • Up-to-date Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
  • Access to transportation to access partner sites (Waterloo Region, Guelph & Cambridge).

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Work, Recreation & Leisure, Social Sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate a variety of programs for youth (aged 13-24 years) that support their physical, social and mental wellbeing, personal development, and leadership skills.
  • Support Youth Engagement Workers in delivering programs, events, and activities to meet the changing needs of youth within the community.
  • Support program delivery including: Alternative Suspension, Youth Leadership Development, Youth Sports, Teen Basketball, Community Meals, Youth Drop In, amongst other programs.
  • Encourage youth to discover their personal identity regardless of gender, ethnicity, socio economic status.
  • Help youth develop leadership skills such as communication, problem solving and teamwork.
  • Empower youth to explore personal talents to build confidence and self-esteem.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with both internal YMCA partners and external community organizations to support program offerings.
  • Ensure that youth programs are a safe, inclusive and engaging space for all youth, while building trusting relationships with youth directly in programs.
