About The Position

Vineyard City Recreation is hiring enthusiastic coaches for our 2025 Youth Tennis & Pickleball League, scheduled from June 1 – July 23, 2026. Coaches will lead teams of youth aged 10-14, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The season will include 4-5 regular matches and a postseason tournament. Hours are approximately 6-15 per week with some flexibility available.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years old
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to effectively coach and engage youth participants
• Physical ability to perform coaching duties, including running, jumping, racket handling, and lifting 25 lbs.
• Basic knowledge of tennis rules
• Ability to follow safety procedures and manage decisions under pressure
• Successful completion of a background check

Nice To Haves

• Coaching experience preferred
• First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach and reinforce fundamental tennis/pickleball skills (forehand, backhand, serves, positioning, net play, volleys)
• Educate participants on the rules and strategies of the game
• Promote teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship
• Serve as a positive role model for youth participants
• Maintain clear, consistent communication with Vineyard's Recreation Coordinator
• Participate in mandatory in-person training prior to coaching
• Participate in a mid-season evaluation by Vineyard Recreation Staff
