Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a group setting; or Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a non-social work field with six months of I/DD group-setting experience; or Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license.
  • Ability to successfully complete physical and drug screening, criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and child abuse clearances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with adolescents.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed during challenging situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of autism, intellectual, and developmental disabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision for up to five residents.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and structured living environment.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with residents.
  • Assist with meal preparation and daily routines.
  • Transport residents to appointments, school, recreational activities, and community outings.
  • Encourage independence and healthy life skills.
  • Assist with implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Support residents using positive behavior management techniques.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and team members to provide consistent care.
  • Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports, and resident documentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and treatment team members.
