About The Position

ViaQuest ICFs’ Youth Support Specialists (DSPs) provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes. The role is intended to foster individuals’ independence, choice, and empowerment while ensuring their health and safety. Training is provided in its entirety, including paid training and daily orientation. The position is based in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and pays $18.25–$19.25 per hour.

This opportunity may suit people seeking experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) field, including nursing assistants, STNAs, CNAs, caregivers, personal care aides, home health aides, paraprofessionals, and nursing students. Applicants may be taking classes or may have no degree; candidates must meet the listed age, education, driving, and physical requirements.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Motor vehicle record must meet requirements, including no OVI/DUI, reckless operation, or speeding violations more than 20 MPH over the posted limit.
• No more than two moving violations in the last two years and no more than five points.
• Reliable vehicle with active insurance.
• Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and assist individuals as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes, promoting independence, choice, and empowerment while meeting health and safety needs.
• Supervise, teach, and assist individuals in all aspects of their lives.
• Complete household tasks, including meal preparation and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
• Provide personal care assistance and companion care.
