About The Position

Youth Sports Staff instructs class participants in various sports, games, and activities, providing children and parents with a quality experience focused on the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The role leads and assists youth in skill development, game play, and age-appropriate activities, encourages sportsmanship and teachable moments, helps create lesson plans, and monitors the facility and proper equipment use. This part-time position is at the Haselwood Family YMCA in Silverdale, Washington, and offers up to 25 hours per week.

Requirements

• Be at least 15 years of age.
• Have the ability to instruct participants in techniques.
• Have a positive attitude.
• Have knowledge and skills in programming, activities, and sports.
• Pass background and reference checks in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act.
• Value and promote diversity and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Be able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day and other online and in-person training as required.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of related experience.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist participants in skill development, game play, and activities appropriate for each age group.
• Encourage sportsmanship and teachable moments to implement YMCA core values.
• Assist in creating age-appropriate lesson plans to ensure fun, high-energy classes.
• Monitor the facility, organize activities, and instruct youth on proper use of equipment.
• Instruct participants in techniques across sports, games, and activities.
