About The Position

The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking a highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individual for a part-time Youth Sports Staff role. This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. The Sports Staff will create a fun, inclusive, and supportive experience for youth athletes while promoting teamwork, skill development, and healthy lifestyles. This position supports a variety of youth sports programs, including PreK T-Ball and Basketball, Youth Basketball, and Youth Volleyball.

Requirements

Must be 16 years with a valid work permit
Experience in coaching youth volleyball and/or youth basketball required.
Must have experience in sports.
Must be able to work with children ages 3 to 15 years old.
Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills.
First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).

Nice To Haves

Willing to be trained in scorekeeping and coaching across multiple sports programs.

Responsibilities

Inspect, prepare, and maintain sports fields and equipment to create a safe, organized, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Guide participants through registration and check-in, manage program paperwork, and deliver clear communication of program details.
Officiate games and maintain accurate scoring when assigned.
Champion fairness and inclusion by supervising activities, addressing concerns promptly, and creating a welcoming environment where every participant feels valued and supported.
Engage with participants and families to foster a friendly atmosphere, answer questions, and share information that enhances their overall experience.
