About The Position

The North Rutherford YMCA is looking for a Youth Sports Official to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who loves sports, thrives in high-energy environments, and has a passion for helping children grow through play. The official will be responsible for ensuring fairness, fun, and fostering sportsmanship during youth soccer games. Key duties include making calls, managing the game clock, educating young players on rules, and setting a positive tone for game days. Additionally, the role involves pre- and post-game equipment checks, assisting with setup and cleanup, communicating with coaches, and embodying the Y's core values as a role model. Responsibilities also include attending trainings, completing game reports, and contributing to memorable game day experiences.

Requirements

Minimum Age: 16
CPR Pro / AED / First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
Attend New Hire Orientation before your first shift
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience officiating youth or recreational sports is a big plus
A passion for youth development and sportsmanship
Knowledge of game rules for soccer

Responsibilities

Make calls and manage the game clock during soccer games.
Help young players understand the rules of the game.
Set the tone for a safe, positive, and exciting game day experience.
Check equipment before and after games.
Assist with setup and cleanup for games.
Communicate with coaches to ensure smooth operations.
Embody the Y's core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility) as a role model.
Attend trainings.
Complete simple game reports.
Help make every game day one to remember.
