About The Position

The YMCA is seeking energetic and dedicated child care Youth Specialists to provide direct supervision in a safe, fun, and educational environment for Middle School Academy participants. Youth Specialists provide a quality experience for children and parents focused on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The role is suited to someone who wants to encourage learning, mentor children, and serve as a positive role model. The schedule is flexible and may include before-school hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., after-school hours from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., or a combination of both. The position is part-time, approximately 25–30 hours per week, paying $15.00 per hour. A Level 2 background clearance through DCF (Florida) is required.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be currently enrolled in high school or a GED program with graduation anticipated within two years.
Desire and ability to work with children of all ages.
Demonstrated responsibility and dependability.
Excellent communication skills.
Pass a 10-panel drug screen.
Clear a Level 2 background check; Level 2 background clearance through DCF (Florida) is required.

Nice To Haves

One year of previous child care experience is preferred.
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification is preferred; certification will be provided.
