About The Position

Ankeny's Parks and Recreations Department is looking for youth soccer officials for the 2026 fall season. Games are held on Saturdays, August - October. Officials will provide leadership and support to promote a fun environment through good sportsmanship and safety for all individuals involved. Officials will have the opportunity to stay on with Parks & Rec department as a gym supervisor during the fall/winter if desired. Non-certified officials start at $14.25 /hr. Certified officials earn $17.25/hr. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.

Requirements

Must be available on Saturdays, August 15 - October 3, 2026.
Must be able to run and be active during games.
Dependable and reliable.
Clean and neat appearance.
Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
Tactful and effective communication skills.
Ability to maintain an exceptional level of safety.
Must be at least 14 years of age.
Must be adaptive to all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Soccer knowledge and experience is preferred but not required.
Will train officials.

Responsibilities

Officiate youth games accurately and fairly based on good knowledge of the sport and rules.
Promote good sportsmanship at all times.
Ensure a safe environment for all participants during games.
