About The Position

The Wyoming Boys’ School (WBS) is a secure facility providing adjudicated delinquent males ages 12-21 years with opportunities to make changes in their lives. Staff members provide supportive services focusing on psychological/emotional stability, educational and physical development, and mental health therapies. Programs are specifically designed for youth to learn socially responsible values and life skills, restructure their critical thinking, and prepare for a successful transition back to their families and communities. This position offers a unique opportunity, a less conventional work schedule, and the ability to work with a supportive team. Located along the Big Horn River, Worland offers a strong community feel, beautiful mountain views, and protection from severe weather via the Big Horn Basin topography. Additionally, Wyoming is one of only nine states with no state income tax.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Youth Services Aide OR 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Youth Services Aide
  • Complete all mandatory State of Wyoming and Wyoming Boys' School training
  • Remain awake and alert during the shift

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma and one year of work experience with the public or youth.

Responsibilities

  • Provides for the safety and security of students during awake hours.
  • Monitors support and assist students and staff.
  • Responds to all emergencies.
  • Maintains a logbook of facility activities
  • Produces and/or reviews incident reports.
  • Manages radio traffic regarding facility events and student movement.
  • Greets guests in a manner that reflects a positive image and with excellent customer service.
  • Frequently transports students to and from appointments and activities.
  • Directs or assists in investigations involving risk management, safety, and welfare of students and staff.
  • Conducts frequent observation of physical plant structures and perimeter areas.
  • Assists with supervision of off-ground activities.
