About The Position

The Youth Services Program Manager will be responsible for program assistance, implementation, and development, as well as supporting all activities and programs for children in kindergarten through high school throughout the year. This includes after-school care, winter, spring, and summer camps, enrichment classes, JCAtion Days, social activities, some sports programs, functions related to ad hoc committees, and assorted JCA agency-wide programs. The role also involves providing supervision and leadership to ensure the department's efficiency and success. The position requires working evenings and weekends as dictated by program schedules.

Requirements

  • 2 Year Degree
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as programs dictate.
  • Ability to provide adequate supervision and support for children's safety, and educational and emotional development.
  • Ability to develop lesson plans and activities.
  • Ability to coordinate transportation.
  • Ability to provide ongoing supervision and management to support staff.
  • Ability to keep the Youth Services area safe, clean and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Ability to work closely with other departments.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a timely and professional fashion.
  • Ability to follow JCA policies and procedures and model them.
  • Ability to dress appropriately in JCA attire and look professional.
  • Ability to build relationships with members, program participants and community supporters.
  • Ability to participate as part of a team in a cooperative manner.
  • Ability to use marketing and public relations techniques.
  • Ability to complete all paperwork and other tasks related to programs.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with parents.
  • Ability to attend all required staff and in-service meetings.
  • Ability to meet all applicable requirements by the Florida Department of Children and Families and other agencies and authorities.
  • Ability to provide an environment in which Jewish awareness and appreciation of Jewish culture is fostered.
  • Ability to help enforce the Youth Services Departmental policies.
  • Ability to display a positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to display knowledge and understanding of the developmental levels of the age group.
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as necessary.
  • Ability to orient new staff hired during the year.
  • Ability to perform off-site travel to vendors and/or other such locations as necessary.
  • Willingness to work weekend and evening hours at times.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the well-being of each child through adequate supervision and support for their safety, and educational and emotional development.
  • Develop enriching, interesting, and meaningful lesson plans and activities.
  • Assist in coordinating transportation for the after-school program.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and management to support staff, leading and motivating them, and ensuring proper staff-to-child ratios.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing Youth Services area.
  • Collaborate with other departments for optimal space utilization for program implementation.
  • Communicate professionally and in a timely manner (verbally and in writing) with supervisors, support staff, program participants, parents, and children.
  • Follow and model JCA policies and procedures.
  • Dress appropriately in JCA attire and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Build relationships with members, program participants, and community supporters.
  • Participate cooperatively with co-workers, respond willingly to supervisor's direction, and perform assigned duties.
  • Utilize marketing and public relations techniques to grow programs, increase attendance, and participation.
  • Complete all program-related paperwork, including program planners, marketing requests, budgets, purchase orders, and communications.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with parents.
  • Attend all required staff and in-service meetings.
  • Meet all applicable requirements set by the Florida Department of Children and Families and other agencies.
  • Foster an environment that promotes Jewish awareness and appreciation of Jewish culture.
  • Enforce Youth Services Departmental policies, such as sick policies, carpool procedures, and kosher policy.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards the program when interacting with parents and members outside the department.
  • Express negative concerns directly to the Youth Services Director.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the developmental levels of the age group being worked with.
  • React productively to change, handle essential tasks as necessary, and fulfill general responsibilities of all JCA Staff, which may include participating in staff meetings, building tours, events, or other team functions.
  • Orient new staff hired during the year using the staff manual.
  • Perform off-site travel to vendors and/or other necessary locations.
  • Work evenings and weekends as expected at times.
