The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Youth Services Intern. This position is located in San Diego, CA and will report out of the San Diego (Fortunada) chapter. This is an internship opportunity for an undergraduate student or trainee to gain work experience offered by an organization for a limited period of time. The intern will assist in the assessment and development of ARC programs, conduct research related to the program, and recommend processes for greater efficiency. They will also assist with the creation and/or maintenance of program, plans, and systems, and provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers, including supporting oversight of youth programming and youth leadership camp activities. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • Internship is typically part of an undergraduate program which requires some university credit hours.
  • Up to 1 year of related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assessment and development of ARC programs.
  • Conduct research related to the program and recommend processes for greater efficiency.
  • Assist with the creation and/or maintenance of program, plans, and systems.
  • Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers, and supporting oversight of youth programming, including youth leadership camp activities.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
  • May support unit with research projects.
  • Typically analyze data, present facts, and recommend solutions.
  • May create, develop, or maintain databases for various lines of service events or projects.
  • Assist with the development of reports and other informational materials presented to management.
  • Conduct unit-specific responsibilities.
