The EmpowHER project aims to improve communities' social, economic, and environmental well-being through local action by working collaboratively with 320 youth (ages 12 – 30) from underserved communities in Ontario. Achēv will work with partners and the target population by introducing them to various service and volunteer opportunities in their communities, providing training, and collaborating in co-creating service projects that respond to identified community needs. The Youth Service Specialist will focus on assisting with event planning, direct delivery of program activities, and assist in the project evaluation, one-on-one counselling, group assessments, and volunteer coordination. In addition, the Youth Service Specialist will assist in scheduling and facilitating weekly training, including creating zoom meetings, sending reminders, making certifications, among others. For participant recruitment and monitoring, the Youth Service Specialist will create the marketing materials to attract new participants, develop materials to keep participants engaged, outreach, record engagement activities, and monitor and record volunteer hours. One of the primary areas of coaching offered to the youth clientele under EmpowHER pertains to Civic Action and Civic Engagement, and therefore the incumbent must be non-partisan and well versed in Canadian Governance and Employment Laws that govern volunteerism. In addition, we expect the EmpowHER project to be a safe space for LGBTQ2S+ youth.
