About The Position

The Health & Human Services - Agency 25 in Hastings, NE is seeking a Youth Security Supervisor. This role involves leading, monitoring, and supervising a team, specifically Youth Program Specialists on the afternoon shift at the YRTC-Hastings facility. The supervisor will control daily operations, administer facility rules and regulations to ensure youth on and off campus activities/events are conducted in an acceptable and proper manner, including but not limited to, medication administration, youth movements, school, recreation, groups, and meals. The position also entails overseeing health, sanitation, safety, and security standards of the facility. Key responsibilities include responding to and handling crisis and critical incidents, communicating with Administration during non-business hours, and establishing and leading the command center during crisis situations until Administration can respond and take lead. The supervisor will complete disciplinary investigations, communicate with law enforcement agencies when needed, and work closely with other departmental personnel to ensure the safety and good order of the facility. Consulting with staff on youth behaviors, identifying solutions to work-related problems, conducting security searches to minimize contraband, and completing pertinent reports and documentation are also part of the role. Requirements

  • Coursework/training or experience in: social work, criminal justice, counseling and guidance, human development and the family, psychology, behavioral health care, education, social/behavioral sciences, delinquency prevention or related area.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring and/or supervising others.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma.
  • Proficiency in English including the ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the language effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, support, coaching, and mentoring Youth Program Specialist on the afternoon shift.
