Youth Respite Provider
About The Position
Provide respite care for a child with Autism in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The role involves weekday evening care, typically one night per week for 4–6 hours per shift, with exact times arranged in advance with the parent. The provider will create a safe, structured, and engaging environment at home, support the child’s emotional regulation, and provide safe transportation as needed. Availability that continues into the summer schedule is requested. The starting and maximum wage listed is $17.66 per hour. If hired by a Member or their Managing Party, the Member is the legal employer; Consumer Direct Care Network assists with recruiting and is not the legal employer on record.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable vehicle.
- Current auto insurance.
- Calm, patient, and consistent, especially during challenging moments.
- Comfortable with child-led play and engaging in fun, creative activities.
- Availability that carries into the summer schedule.

Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, consistent safety supervision at home.
- Join the child in favorite activities, including Sesame Street, Secret Life of Pets, dress-up, outdoor play, and educational games.
- Encourage self-expression and use positive redirection when needed.
- Remain patient and supportive when the child is frustrated, especially when told “no.”
- Support emotional regulation by being a calm, steady presence.
- Provide safe transportation as needed.
