About The Position

The Northpark YMCA is looking for a new leader to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth Program Director will lead the development and implementation of high quality sports, aquatics, youth programs, and community events that strengthen community engagement and support the YMCA mission. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality programs combined with the ability to manage the administrative components of program operations. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure that participants and families have an exceptional experience at the Y. This role will also oversee youth and family engagement initiatives, including community events and family centered programs such as Healthy Kids Day, Polar Plunge, Parent's Night Out, seasonal events, and other community-based activities. Responsibilities include supervision and training of program staff along with new and innovative ideas to grow and expand existing programs. This is a Full Time exempt position. The Youth Program Director will need to be available to work weekends, as many games and community events take place during evenings and weekends. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  • 1-2 years of previous youth sports, aquatics, or youth programming experience.
  • YMCA Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor Certification, LGI a plus
  • ASHI CPR Pro and First Aid certifications will be required.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Four or more years of program experience, preferably in a YMCA or other Nonprofit organization.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring or budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Expands sports, aquatics, and youth and family programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information and may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes branch events such as Healthy Kids Day, Polar Plunge, Parent's Night Out, family events, seasonal celebrations, and other community engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborates across departments to create innovative youth and family programming that enhances the overall member experience and supports branch goals.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship building skill in all interactions.
  • Compiles program statistics and evaluates program effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
