About The Position

The Youth Programs Associate is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and caring environment for children at Altea, a fitness and wellness destination. This role involves delivering programs for the next generation, including the Active Kids Club, Climbing Club, birthday parties, camps, and seasonal programming, ensuring families trust Altea with their children's care and feel a sense of belonging. The position requires open availability.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education or coursework in early childhood education, child development, recreation, or a related field — or equivalent direct experience
• At least one year of experience working with children from six weeks to twelve years of age in a programming, childcare, or recreational environment
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C, maintained annually (training hosted and paid for by Altea)
• Criminal Background Check — Vulnerable Sector required prior to commencement of training and/or work
• A genuine love for working with children and a clear understanding of what it means to be trusted with their care

Nice To Haves

• Additional certifications in childcare, rock climbing, or youth programming are an asset

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate programs across Active Kids Club, Climbing Club, birthday parties, youth camps, and structured play.
• Teach proper use of climbing harnesses, spotting techniques, and safety protocols, assessing participants and introducing safety standards.
• Provide high-quality childcare for children from six weeks to twelve years of age, attending to physical needs, developmental play, allergy records, and authorized pick-ups.
• Monitor the environment continuously for hazards, respond promptly to incidents, complete daily logbook entries, and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
• Communicate warmly and proactively with parents about their child's day and create a trustworthy handoff experience.
