About The Position

The Program Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania programming at University Preparatory School. This role is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where young people can learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships. The Program Manager plans and delivers high-quality youth programming, supervises staff, builds relationships with students and families, and serves as a key connection between BGCWPA, University Prep, and the Shadyside Clubhouse.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and youth in educational, recreational, after-school, or community-based settings.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace and maintaining programme records.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and actively participate in youth programming and activities.
  • Successful candidates must obtain and maintain required clearances and certifications, including: CPR and Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI, and NSOR clearances, Mandated Reporter Certification, PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test (as required).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and oversee engaging programs for youth in areas such as STEM, literacy, arts, recreation, leadership, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Create a positive, inclusive environment where youth feel safe, supported, and connected.
  • Manage daily schedules, activities, attendance, and program operations.
  • Support youth recruitment, enrollment, participation, and retention.
  • Maintain accurate program records, reports, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with BGCWPA policies and applicable licensing requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to program staff.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, scheduling, and staff development.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and positive youth development.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for University Prep regarding program operations.
  • Support family engagement activities, events, and special programs.
  • Connect youth and families to additional opportunities available through BGCWPA.
  • Work closely with the Shadyside Clubhouse team to ensure alignment and consistency across programs.
  • Support Clubhouse programming, events, and operations as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organisational initiatives.
