Youth Program Leader - Downtown L.A.
About The Position
Arc Experience is hiring a part-time, non-exempt Youth Program Leader at Equitas Academy 4 in Los Angeles, California. The Program Leader works directly with students in before- and after-school programming, supporting social-emotional learning, homework, enrichment activities, and recreation. The role helps make learning enjoyable, build students’ confidence, and create a safe and welcoming program environment. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, generally from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. One school day is a minimum day, with hours around 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., depending on the school. The position reports to the Site Coordinator of the school site and pays $20.00 per hour.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working in after-school programs or youth recreation, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to speak comfortably with children and parents.
- College transcripts showing at least 48 completed college credit units, or passing an academic proficiency exam.
- Obtain a TB test and provide proof of a negative result.
- Pass a Live Scan background check.
- Reliably commute before starting work.
- Work Monday through Friday.
- If the school site requires COVID-19 vaccination, provide documentation of full vaccination.

Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome students to the program at the end of the school day.
- Organize and lead homework help, recreational games, arts and crafts, and educational projects.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
- Create unique clubs for students, such as career readiness, cooking, anime, or dance clubs.
- Follow safety protocols, monitor student behavior, and manage group dynamics to maintain a secure environment.
- Oversee students’ safety and well-being during after-school activities.
- Encourage participation and enthusiasm while adapting activities to students’ diverse needs and interests.
