About The Position

Arc Experience is hiring a part-time, non-exempt Youth Program Leader at Animo Ellen Ochoa Charter Middle School in Los Angeles, California. Program Leaders work directly with students in before- and after-school programs, supporting social-emotional learning, homework, enrichment, and recreation. The role is intended to make learning enjoyable, build students’ confidence, and create positive experiences after school.

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. One school day is a minimum day, with hours around 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., depending on the school. The position pays $21 per hour and reports to the Site Coordinator of the school site.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working in after-school programs or youth recreation, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
• Good communication skills and comfort communicating with both children and parents.
• College transcripts showing at least 48 completed college credit units, or passing an academic proficiency exam.
• Obtain a TB test and provide proof of a negative result.
• Pass a Live Scan background check.
• Reliably commute to the work location before starting work.
• If the school requires COVID-19 vaccination, provide documentation showing full vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome students when they arrive at the program at the end of the school day.
• Organize and lead activities such as homework help, recreational games, arts and crafts, and educational projects.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
• Create clubs for students, such as career readiness, cooking, anime, or dance clubs.
• Follow safety protocols, monitor student behavior, and manage group dynamics to maintain a secure environment.
• Oversee students’ safety and well-being during after-school activities.
• Encourage participation and enthusiasm, adapting activities to students’ diverse needs and interests.
