About The Position

Baristas at Blank Street help shape the customer experience by providing welcoming hospitality, preparing drinks, and maintaining the standards of the café. As part of the founding Los Angeles team, the role offers an opportunity to influence how the brand operates locally and to grow as the company expands. Baristas work with a close-knit team, serve a focused menu, and use quality equipment, coffee, and matcha. The role includes training and evolving with the company, supporting events and promotions, and helping shifts run smoothly.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position, preferably in hospitality or coffee.
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to lift more than 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
Availability that meets café needs.
For part-time work: availability for 15–25 hours per week over 3 days, including 2 peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
For full-time work: availability for 30–40 hours per week over 4–5 days, including 2 peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).

Nice To Haves

Weekend and holiday availability is preferred.
Passion for coffee and/or matcha.
Hospitality-minded, friendly, and enthusiastic approach.
Adaptability, attention to detail, ownership, and ability to work inclusively with a diverse team.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging hospitality, with the goal of turning customers into regulars.
Work as an integral member of the team using company equipment, coffee, and matcha.
Maintain a clean and organized environment that meets local Department of Health and Blank Street standards.
Partner with Operations and Marketing teams on events and promotions.
Continue training and developing with the company, improving standards and processes.
Master company procedures, including cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing procedures.
