About The Position
The Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Bend is hiring a Youth Program Lead to support our afterschool and homeschool programs. This role involves mentoring counselors, planning engaging activities, and providing classroom support while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for children. The position offers a starting pay of $15 per hour and is part-time, requiring 29 hours per week. Specific availability is needed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:30–6:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Requirements
- At least two years of related experience in youth programs, education, ministry, or a similar setting.
- Strong communication and organization skills, with a patient, encouraging approach to children and staff.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- A valid driver’s license and compliance with driver qualification standards.
- Completion of Safe From Harm and CPR training within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- A related degree or staff leadership experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Guide and mentor counselors in classroom management, student engagement, and safety.
- Plan age-appropriate activities and prepare program materials.
- Provide classroom coverage and support daily staffing and scheduling.
- Communicate with families and maintain attendance records.
- Keep program spaces organized and follow child safety requirements.
