Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
  • 3 years’ experience in coordinating and structuring youth programs for school age children
  • Experience in hiring and supervising staff
  • Flexibility in work schedule and expectations to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite

Responsibilities

  • Promoting, developing, and managing all activities associated with our School Age Child Care, Sports and Summer Camp Programs within the Princeton and Montgomery service area.
  • Ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe, YMCA youth programming in a nurturing environment.
  • Developing and maintaining yearly budgets.
  • Establishing and sustaining positive relationships with program participants, families and prospective members.
  • Hiring, training, and providing continuous support and feedback to program staff.
  • Supporting fundraising activities and special events as necessary.
  • Responding to member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring all SACC (School Age Child Care) programs are continuously maintaining the guidelines for a safe, educational, social and nurturing environment as set by the YMCA and other regulatory organizations.
  • Overseeing all aspects of running the Summer Camp program including overseeing camp staff.
  • Planning weekly special events and camp activities.
  • Overseeing all staff training sessions/meetings prior to and during camp session.
  • Helping staff prepare lesson plans for their groups.
  • Acquainting campers with rules, activities, daily schedule and traditions of camp.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and supplies are being properly used and maintained.
  • Keeping daily attendance and ensuring staff is performing head counts at each new activity.
  • Reporting all accidents and completing incident report forms as outlined in our policies.
  • Assuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Complying with all Greater Somerset County YMCA Policies and Procedures.
  • Collaborating and building relationships within Branch and community organizations in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Actively participating in trainings, seminars, special events, and meetings as required.
  • Representing and promoting the YMCA in the local community and developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with schools and community organizations in service delivery area.
  • Supporting the Annual Campaign.
  • Serving as a member of YMCA management and supporting the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  • Adhering and incorporating the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and educating members about the YMCA mission and goals.
