About The Position

Roots Church is seeking a Youth Pastor to lead and strengthen rootsYOUTH, their ministry to middle school and high school students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping the next generation follow Jesus, enjoy building teams, developing leaders, and creating ministry environments where students feel known, cared for, and challenged to grow. This role involves stepping into a growing church with strong momentum, a committed volunteer team, and a clear need for pastoral leadership among middle and high school students. The Youth Pastor will provide pastoral leadership, build strong volunteer teams, partner with parents, and foster a culture where students are loved, discipled, and equipped to follow Jesus. The ministry currently serves students through a weekly Wednesday night gathering and has significant growth potential.

  • Agreement with the beliefs, values, and ministry approach of Roots Church.
  • Commitment to biblical authority, spiritual growth, and Spirit-empowered ministry.
  • A life marked by spiritual and emotional health.
  • A passion for the gospel and a desire to help students and families follow Jesus.
  • Experience leading in student ministry, next-generation ministry, or a comparable ministry environment.
  • Ability to teach Scripture in a way that is clear, engaging, and age-appropriate.
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and leading volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, parents, and leaders.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High follow-through and personal responsibility.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional discernment.
  • Positive, energetic, and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to be flexible, creative, and responsive in a growing church.
  • A teachable spirit and strong alignment with the leadership culture of Roots.
  • Formal ministry education is welcome, but practical ministry experience, leadership ability, teachability, and cultural fit are especially important.

Nice To Haves

  • Passionate about students, families, and next-generation discipleship.
  • A strong communicator who can teach students in an engaging and biblical way.
  • A team-builder who can recruit, train, empower, and encourage volunteers.
  • Flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, growing church environment.
  • Teachable, aligned, and able to honor leadership while bringing fresh ideas.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage responsibilities without constant supervision.
  • Committed to excellence without becoming rigid or impersonal.

  • Recruit, onboard, train, encourage, and pray for rootsYOUTH volunteers.
  • Lead the rootsYOUTH team with clarity, consistency, and care.
  • Develop leaders who take ownership of the ministry, care for students well, and help create a healthy team culture.

  • Create a culture where leaders are growing spiritually, relationally, and practically.
  • Communicate consistently and professionally with parents and guardians.
