Youth Leader/Pastor

U.S. Church Ministries•Florence, KY

About The Position

The Youth Leader/Pastor develops and leads a disciple-making ministry for youth that seeks to win, build, equip, multiply leaders, and send students to reach others. The ministry must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of Florence Alliance Church. The anticipated commitment is 20 hours per week, including ministry and preparation. The initial agreement is for six months, with subsequent agreements for one year. Near the end of each agreement, the Senior Pastor evaluates the Youth Leader and receives feedback; the Board then decides whether to extend another offer. The Youth Leader is accountable to the Governing Board for the duties, goals, and mission of the youth ministry and reports directly to the pastor as the Board’s representative. The role works cooperatively with staff, volunteers, the congregation, and students’ parents. The pastor and Youth Leader meet regularly for prayer, support, encouragement, and guidance. The Youth Leader also networks with other youth leaders and/or seeks mentoring from an experienced youth leader. The position emphasizes spiritual development and relationship-building. The Youth Leader maintains a close relationship with the Lord and develops healthy relationships with students and their parents, supported by frequent communication. The role also develops and implements a strategic ministry plan, builds a ministry team, equips students for evangelism and service, plans community service opportunities, and develops small groups as the core of the disciple-making process. Occasional preaching and other pastoral duties may be assigned. The Board assigns an Elder as a mentor for prayer and spiritual support. The Youth Leader meets with the pastor for encouragement and accountability as often as deemed prudent, with every other week given as an example. A committee of interested adults and parents meets with the Youth Leader, generally monthly, to provide planning input, feedback, encouragement, and support; frequency is negotiable. This committee is in addition to the youth ministry team. Applicants should submit an application including a testimony, resume, and other relevant background information. The position may require licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance.
