About The Position

The City of Port Washington is seeking a Youth Flag Football Supervisor/Referee to officiate Youth Flag Football League games. This role involves ensuring the safety of the playfield and equipment, starting and ending games on time according to the rules and weather policy, and communicating professionally with participants, coaches, and parents. The Supervisor/Referee will interpret and enforce game rules, supervise participant conduct, impose penalties for violations, and make decisions on situations not explicitly covered by the rules. Responsibilities also include cleaning up the playfield after games and reporting incidents to the Recreation Program Manager.

Requirements

Must be 18+ years old.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of Port Washington Recreation Department Flag Football rules.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience refereeing games.
Prior experience playing or coaching football.

Responsibilities

Officiate Youth Flag Football League games.
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time.
Examine and evaluate the safety of the playfield, surrounding area and equipment.
Start and end games according to the schedule, rules and weather cancellation policy.
Communicate with participants, coaches, and parents in a professional manner.
Interpret and enforce the rules of the game on the field throughout the game.
Supervise and control the general conduct of all participants in the game.
Invoke and impose penalties for violations of rules and unsportsmanlike conduct.
Make decisions on any point not specifically covered in rules.
Clean-up the playfield at the completion of the night's games.
Report incidents and concerns to the Recreation Program Manager in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Program Manager.
