About The Position

This role involves officiating youth flag football games, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for participants. The official will be responsible for enforcing rules, monitoring participant safety and attire, completing necessary reports, and preparing program activities. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.

Requirements

Thorough knowledge of city and department rules and regulations.
Knowledge of specific sports program rules and interpretations.
Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.
Ability to enforce rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially.
Ability to control large groups of people.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to remain current on rules of specific sports.
Ability to communicate effectively to the participants.
Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine proper course of action.
Ability to work with little or no supervision, as necessary.
Ability to analyze and assess facility, equipment and weather safety hazards.
Ability to write incident and accident reports.
Ability to learn and adhere to the facility emergency procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public.
Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
Must pass basic sports understanding test.

Nice To Haves

Additional specialty/certifications preferred if available.
Some prior working experience, preferably experience with playing, officiating, or instructing sports programs.

Responsibilities

Enforce rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially.
Analyze situations and facts quickly and objectively to determine the proper course of action.
Monitor participants and their ability to participate.
Monitor attire to properly perform (i.e., shoes, equipment, etc.), if applicable.
Provide a safe environment for all participants.
Enforce all general building policies, if applicable.
Complete necessary reports and forms (e.g., Accident/Incident Reports, Attendance Records, Supply Requests).
Responsible for preparation of program activities.
Organize relative equipment.
May be required to set up and break-down materials used for instruction.
Attend scheduled meetings as required.
Inform supervisor of any customer, equipment, or facility needs.
Ensure that the goals and objectives of activity are met.
Provide excellent customer service, including interacting with participants to answer questions or resolve problems.
Perform related duties as required.
