About The Position

The Salvation Army is hiring a Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator for its Harrisburg location. This role is part of the Harrisburg Ministry Team and focuses on investing in the lives of young people and their families through relational ministry opportunities. The primary goal is to introduce children and their families to Jesus Christ and provide an environment for spiritual growth, discipleship, and maturity in faith. The coordinator will provide visionary leadership for all children's, teen, young adult, and family ministries, developing and leading Christ-centered programs that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, outreach, and family engagement. This role involves building meaningful relationships within the community, overseeing various youth programs, music and arts, recreation, nursery operations, volunteer leadership, and evangelistic programming. The coordinator will collaborate with the ministry leadership team, participate in community outreach and Salvation Army events, support Sunday worship and Christian education, and advance the mission of The Salvation Army. This is a ministry position requiring a mature and active Christian faith consistent with the doctrines and mission of The Salvation Army, demanding Christ-like character, active participation in worship and ministry, and serving as a positive Christian role model with high standards of professionalism and integrity.

Requirements

• Experience working with children and families.
• Solid and mature Christian.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Music & Arts experience.
• Excellent communication skills- both oral and in writing.
• Computer skills in Word and Excel.
• Must treat all people with compassion and respect.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills within The Salvation Army required.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive for The Salvation Army.
• Completion of PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
• Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
• Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relational ministry opportunities for young people and their families.
• Conduct an ongoing and aggressive evangelical ministry to introduce children and their families to Jesus Christ.
• Provide an environment and ministry opportunities for children, teens, and young adults to grow in their faith and walk of Holiness.
• Provide visionary leadership for all children's, teen, young adult, and family ministries.
• Develop and lead Christ-centered programs that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, outreach, and family engagement.
• Build meaningful relationships throughout the community.
• Oversee youth ministries, music and arts, recreation, nursery operations, volunteer leadership, and evangelistic programming.
• Connect individuals and families to the life of the church.
• Collaborate across all departments as part of the ministry leadership team.
• Participate in community outreach and Salvation Army events.
• Support Sunday worship and Christian education.
• Advance the overall mission of The Salvation Army through compassionate service, intentional discipleship, and excellence in ministry.
• Undertake tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.
