About The Position

Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) prepare youth for success by creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of Boys & Girls Clubs’ youth development outcomes. This is accomplished by promoting participation in clubhouse programs, providing guidance, and role modeling to members. The role encompasses various specializations including Health and Life Skills, Character & Leadership, Sports, Fitness, & Recreation, Education and Career Development, Arts and Cultural Enrichment, and Technology. The PRIMARY FUNCTION is to plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities within a specific program area, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth and understanding of youth development
  • Demonstrated experience conducting youth activities in at least one of the designated Core Areas
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Negative TB test
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (Within 30 days of hire)
  • Background check clearance
  • NCLB (No Child Left Behind) certification required/ 48 Transferable Units.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of youth development, safe and appropriate activities for youth, and understanding of the culture and community in which the clubhouse is located.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes by promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Register new members and participate in their club orientation process.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of members, quality in programs, and the appearance of the branch at all times.
  • Prepare periodic activity reports.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly branch staff meetings.
  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • May be required to drive Club van.
