The floater position is not intended to provide additional staffing beyond established staffing plans, but rather to ensure continuity of safe, high-quality programming and appropriate staff-to-member ratios during vacancies or employee absences. The typical/regular schedule for this position consists of four-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., during the school year. Hours and times vary during summer camp. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina (BGCSENC) is a youth development organization committed to enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Serving children and teens throughout southeastern North Carolina, BGCSENC provides safe, inclusive, and engaging environments that foster academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and citizenship, and workforce readiness. Through high-quality programming, dedicated staff, and strong community partnerships, BGCSENC empowers youth to become successful leaders in their schools, communities, and future careers. The Youth Development Professional – Floater serves as a substitute staff member and is deployed only when coverage is needed due to the planned or unplanned absence of a regularly assigned Youth Development Professional (YDP). Floaters are assigned to Club sites based on operational needs, staffing shortages, and organizational priorities. The YDP serves as a positive role model by building meaningful relationships with youth, promoting positive behavior, ensuring member safety, and delivering engaging educational and recreational experiences. This position plays a critical role in creating a welcoming Club culture while supporting the academic, social-emotional, physical, and character development of all members.
