About The Position

The Youth Development Center Teacher provides care and early childhood education for infant, toddler or preschool children, ages 0-5, in a licensed childcare & preschool center environment. Be a role model. Develop and lead implementation of classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans appropriate for age group. Supervise the children, classroom, and Teaching Assistants assigned to the classroom. Assure child safety by understanding and following safety and security procedures. Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Conduct student assessments and parent-teacher conferences. Help assure a clean and well-organized classroom and equipment. Respond immediately and appropriately to unexpected situations and emergencies. Attend and be an active participant at staff meetings. Requirements

  • We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Requires a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time-frame.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training courses must be completed within 90 days of hire and are provided by the YMCA.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with parents regarding the child's activities, behavior, eating, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an early childhood setting preferred.
