About The Position

As a Youth Detention Security Officer - Site Monitor in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and authorized personnel by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, verify identification and credentials, screen visitors, and document arrivals, departures, and restricted area access in accordance with site protocols.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or emergency services when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for unusual activity, unsecured access points, and other security-related concerns.
  • Help to deter unauthorized access by maintaining awareness of movement throughout the location, enforcing post orders, and reporting policy violations and/or suspicious behavior.
