We are looking for approximately five Youth Data Analyst interns to join our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation team this summer. Our team is central to supporting a model of continuous improvement for the school district by providing data on critical factors that impact educational experiences and achievement. This internship will introduce students to the research process, including the history of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), data collection methods, and analysis. The curriculum will be grounded in the University of California-Berkeley's Youth-led Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Hub and Minnesota's conversations about the opportunity gap in education. The summer's project will examine SLP's Portrait of a Learner (ASCEND) and aim to help our teaching community understand how SLP students have been ASCEND-ing and what else SLP Schools can do to help students ASCEND. The goal of this internship is to support school leaders in creating Continuous Improvement Plans (CIP) that center student voice. Interns will present their findings on August 18th at our annual Data Advance. Students interested in this topic are encouraged to apply. This summer position starts on June 29, 2026. Students will have an opportunity to extend their research projects, unpaid, through the 2026-2027 academic year based on student interest. Interns will earn $1200 (before tax). Students who have not graduated from high school will earn high school credit for successful completion of the internship. Students will also earn a letter grade based upon successful completion of the requirements of the internship, supervisor evaluations, documentation of hours worked, and student written reflections.
