About The Position

The Youth Dance Instructor leads engaging dance classes for students in grades K–5 at elementary schools across the Bay Area. The instructor creates a fun, supportive environment where children can learn, express themselves, and thrive. Classes typically include 8–16 students aged 5–10 and last 1–1.5 hours. Work is available two or more days per week, with a maximum of 2–5 hours weekly. Classes are held Monday through Friday and start between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The role requires reliable transportation throughout the East and South Bay and Peninsula. Candidates must be local to the US or have a valid working visa; visa assistance is not provided. Compensation is listed as $50–$65 per class and also as $50–$65 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 19 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Genuine enjoyment of working with children and effective classroom management skills.
• Flexibility, reliability, punctuality, and a professional, enthusiastic approach.
• Strong communication skills and a resilient, positive attitude.
• Reliable transportation throughout the East and South Bay and Peninsula.
• Must be local to the US or possess a valid working visa; visa assistance is not provided.

Nice To Haves

• Previous dance teaching or performing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage dance classes for groups of 8–16 students aged 5–10.
• Teach various forms of dance appropriate for elementary school children.
• Attend up to two days of unpaid training or shadowing to learn the program.
• Transport and set up necessary equipment for each class.
• Take attendance and manage student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
• Communicate with parents and school staff as needed.
• Provide constructive feedback on each student’s progress.
• Capture photos of children participating in dance sessions.
