About The Position

The Youth Coordinator's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facilitating The Salvation Army Youth Programs. This role also involves developing and maintaining relationships with the local school district and other community organizations to ensure program effectiveness and positive outcomes for youth participants.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher a related field preferred with a minimum of 2 years related experience working with children or HS diploma/equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience of working with children.
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts as required to meet program needs including schedule changes as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, patience, creativity and love for families.
  • Effective time management and strong organization skills are required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet research.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Represent The Salvation Army in accordance with the Eastern Territory Employee
  • Supervise children in compliance with OCFS Regulations (Section 414).
  • Implement and oversee activities and events within the Corps and afterschool
  • Develop and execute lesson plans and age-appropriate
  • Assist children with homework and academic
  • Monitor meals and encourage appropriate table manners and social skills.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain a safe, respectful
  • Fulfill responsibilities as a mandated
  • Adhere to the Staff Supervision Policy and all program
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in designated child activity areas and personal
  • Remain flexible and available to assist in other program areas as needed.
  • Provide instruction to students individually and in group settings using lectures, discussions, interactive learning, demonstrations, and object lessons to meet the varying needs and interests of students.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and school staff to ensure curriculum alignment with participating schools.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules and behavioral expectations to maintain an orderly learning environment.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and school personnel regarding student, family, and school needs to support effective service delivery.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and physical well-being.
  • Provide educational materials and resources that encourage creativity, exploration, imaginative play, and hands-on learning.
  • Enforce all established program policies and procedures.
  • Plan and conduct balanced instructional activities that encourage students to observe, question, investigate, and engage in learning.
  • Utilize computers, audiovisual aids, and other instructional tools to enhance presentations and activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records in compliance with applicable laws, policies, regulations, and funding requirements.
  • Meet regularly with school staff to assess student progress and address individual student needs.
  • Prepare reports, statistical data, and other documentation as required.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.
  • Ensure the safety and security of students, facilities, and Salvation Army property at all times.
  • Provide timely and consistent feedback to supervisors regarding curriculum implementation through verbal updates, emails, lesson plans, data collection, and outcome reporting.
  • Participate in special events and community activities as needed.
  • Teach and facilitate music, arts, and enrichment activities.
