About The Position

If you are passionate about supporting Tribal youth and your community, enjoy working in a team-oriented and culturally grounded environment, and are eager to assist with youth programs and court-connected initiatives, then this is the job for you! The Youth Program Coordinator oversees and coordinates programs such as Rural Youth Services (RYS), Native Youth Olympics (NYO), Culture Camp and other initiatives that promote youth success, school attendance, healthy lifestyles, and positive community engagement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who can build strong relationships with youth, families, schools, Tribal departments, and community partners while managing multiple programs, maintaining compliance with grant and reporting requirements, and supporting the development of policies and procedures. This position requires professionalism, initiative, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to serving Indigenous youth and families.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills, including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, establish and maintain cooperative relationships, and work successfully as part of a team.
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet competing deadlines.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn new or updated software.
  • A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in youth services, social services, education, cultural programming, Tribal Court programs, juvenile justice, or a related field is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, human services, education, psychology, Alaska Native Studies, or a related field is preferred, but may be substituted for 3 additional years of relative experience.
