About The Position

If you’re a creative art educator who enjoys teaching youth in a supportive, engaging environment, we’d love for you to join our team at Garfield Community Center. We’re seeking a Youth Art Instructor with experience teaching art in recreational, educational, or community settings. The instructor will lead weekly art projects, introduce various art materials and techniques, and help youth build confidence and foundational creative skills.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching art in recreational, educational, or community settings
  • Experience working with children
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Lead age‑appropriate weekly art activities for youth
  • Create a safe, inclusive, supportive learning environment
  • Prepare lesson plans, materials, and classroom setup/cleanup
  • Adapt instruction to varying skill levels and needs
  • Supervise participants and maintain positive group dynamics
  • Communicate professionally with ARC staff and site supervisors
