About The Position

The Greater Holland Area is seeking our next YoungLives Area Coordinator to continue our decades-long ministry to teen parents and their children. The YoungLives Coordinator serves, in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures established by mission leadership, to develop and sustain YoungLives ministries in the respective areas.

Requirements

  • Commitment to a growing relationship with Christ.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.
  • Ability to clearly communicate Young Life’s mission and the vision for YoungLives.
  • Understand the unique issues faced by pregnant and parenting teen moms.
  • Proven relational skills with both adolescents and adults.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel as the job requires.
  • Completion of at least two years as a Staff Associate.
  • Core Training — phase one to be completed as a Staff Associate.
  • Attend YoungLives trainings as directed by the YoungLives regional and/or divisional coordinator.
  • Participation in missionwide staff conference every four years.
  • Participation in additional training or experiences if deemed necessary (e.g., more urban exposure; Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) training).
  • Attend regional training as directed by the regional director.
  • Pursue continuing educational opportunities including graduate degrees.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Development: Foster a vibrant spiritual life through prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships. Develop a yearly personal growth plan, seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community, and actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community. Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development and ensure all Young Life ministry in the area is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that stems from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Leadership Development: Equip leaders, committee, and staff through key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting. Meet regularly with mentors, childcare, and other volunteer leaders. Assist in recruiting and training volunteers to build leadership teams that reflect the community. Attend and be involved with area leadership as assigned. Assist in training volunteers on effective teamwork. Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping. Train and lead a team of volunteers in developing a yearly ministry strategy.
  • Resource Development: Fuel the ministry through events, major donor care, public relations, and the TDS team. Help raise funds for the ministry and camp scholarships. Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners. Develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community. Plan and execute area fundraising events. Become a respected Young Life steward to the community. Partner with the area director to build a YoungLives sub-committee and regularly communicate and participate with the local Young Life committee. Develop relationships with schools, teen parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers, and other applicable community organizations.
  • Direct Ministry: Proclaim and model through contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp. Actively engage in all three levels of contact work. Lead a team to plan and implement regular outreach meetings with excellence. Lead Campaigners meetings with excellence. Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for YoungLives.
  • Ministry Support: Manage accounting, administration, internal communication, data management, and strategic planning. Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management. Ensure YoungLives health and safety policies are followed. Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency. Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors. Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication. Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives, reviewing them regularly. Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs. Accept short and long-term assignments.
