Our Burnaby location is one of the region’s busiest hubs—supporting residential, commercial, and industrial projects of all sizes. We are looking for an experienced, organized, and people‑focused Yard & Warehouse Manager to lead our operations, support our team, and ensure our customers continue to receive the exceptional service Dick’s Lumber is known for.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing unionized employees (requirement)
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in related field
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and support yard and warehouse staff.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and related legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of a unionized workforce including delegating tasks, and monitoring performance.
  • Establish performance standards and coordinate training for all yard personnel, including safety orientations, forklift training, and certification renewals.
  • Strengthening operational alignment between yard and store teams, union and non-union employees to support seamless customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with operational and safety policies; serve as the Management Representative on the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Maintain high customer‑service standards by establishing clear expectations and ensuring consistent execution.
  • Manage and respond to union grievances
  • Oversee cyclical and year‑end inventory counts and maintain adequate stock levels; report shortages to the buying department.
  • Ensure all paperwork and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Perform additional job‑related duties as required.
